Staff Induction / Professional Learning Policy

 

Staff Induction

At Little Wonderland Nursery Ltd all staff will have a full induction upon successful appointment.

The induction period will last for approximately 6 months.

All staff members are required to register with SSSC within 3 months of employment, although we aim to ensure this is done sooner. 

PVG checks will also be completed prior to any staff member or volunteer conducting any work within the service.

The induction period is used to help staff members understand their role and responsibilities and to further become a reflective practitioner with the aim of being:

• highly motivated and have a commitment to improving outcomes for children and families
• consistently displaying interest, enthusiasm, and enjoyment in working with young children
• are eager to learn and understand the need to develop your knowledge and skills
• demonstrate patience, compassion, warmth and kindness in your interactions with children
• understand the trust afforded to you in safeguarding children and respect the need for confidentiality; and you
• demonstrate strong personal values, both inside and outside of the work place

 

For new staff to ELC, The induction will cover all aspects as outlines in the national induction resource which can be found at: Early learning and childcare: induction resource - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

 

All volunteers will also have an induction with the service prior to completing any voluntary work.

Professional Learning

All staff members will be required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of professional learning per year as per SSSC requirements.

At Little Wonderland we understand the significance of a well qualified and skilled workforce and endeavour to ensure all staff members have the ability and opportunity to develop professionally.

 At Little Wonderland we will regularly provide professional learning opportunities both in-house
